The Christmas Tree

On Sunday my parents picked my sister named Jordan at the airport to come home for 2 weeks. About 20 minutes later my Dad got the new Christmas tree because we had an old tree and my dad threw it away at the dump. Jordan and I got some decorations from the box and we took some to put them on the tree. After that we put some lights on the tree and it was very bright. After that my Dad put a star on the tree. I was happy and grateful about the tree with my family.

The Story Of Michael The Giraffe

Michael The Giraffe by Ethan

My puppet’s name is Michael and he is a giraffe.  He is 10 years old. He has a mum, dad ,sister and a brother. Michael and his family live in the animal Hotel.

Michael has really really skinny straight legs and also has a smelly disgusting tail with eggs on it. He has brown fur. He is the biggest animal in the whole world. Michael has a big nose and tall neck. He also has a big body and it’s very hard for him to walk. Michael has four ears and an enormous head.

Michael is a happy and a kind giraffe. He likes to take care of small animals in his School and rescue them. He likes to chase butterflies and insects around the field. He likes to play sports and doing gym workouts.

Sometimes he  steals the teacher's food and bugs his teacher Kevin.  He  rides his magic carpet around the school and  he hits kids and teachers. Because of that  he got a detention from his teacher.

Michael  likes to go to the school  library and read books. But sometimes when he gets hungry  his stomach growls. So he  borrowed some books and  went outside and ate all the books up, not a single crumb was left . He does that everyday in the morning, afternoon and at night.  The school library is empty.  There are no more books.

Because of that Michael feels greedy and still hungry. So he decided to get on his magic carpet and fly away to find a new land. As he was exploring South Africa he looked down and  he saw a big jungle. It was very green, with animals and  a big lake too. Michael was  very happy to stay there forever.

Guns In The Kitchen

1 The first thing I notice in the photo are all the  weapons on the wall.
I think this photo was taken because three men wanted a photo of their weapon display.
This photo was taken in 1880s. In the background there are 3 plates, 9 cups, three chairs, a towel, a fireplace and a tap.  This makes me think of an old fashioned man cave. It does not look as if there are woman living in this flat.

The Maori people

The photograph which was taken at Winiata near Taihape  was an Informal family photo at a Maori farm.  It was much easier to do it outside the studio and it was the new technology.
The  difference between this photo and the formal family photo on page 9, is the one is formal and the other is informal.
This photograph shows forrest being burnt for cattle to graze. But also shows how farmers milked cows to make money.  On this photograph I can see Cats, two cows and dogs. I can also see the mother and father they are milking the cows. The nationality on the photo are the maori people of the family. The photographer who took this photo is Edward George. The people are collecting the native bush to make butter and milk on the farm, and they would burn the trees and bushes to make space. It shows the burnt trees and bushes on the picture.

Wonderful Water

Comprehension 29 August 2017

Water is found everywhere in the sky, in our bodies and homes.  The human body needs water to stay alive. Animals and plants also need water.
70% of the Earth surface is covered by water. But each year there are more and more people being born and they need more and more water. We need to shower  using less water, not waste water.  We need every drop to be able  to survive.

The All Blacks Beating Australia

A number of records were broken on the night. They broke the highest points tally against Australia. The previous highest points total against Australia was 42, a record which was set last year. It is also the most tries scored against Australia in the first half of a test match. In the second half Australia played with more conviction, scoring a trio of well taken tries. However, the All Blacks were still dangerous with Mackenzie and Ben smith.

Canada's Birthday

“Edgewater TV News” (When/Where/Who/What/Why)

Hello my name is Ethan and I’m a news reporter talking about Canada turning 150 years. It began on July 1st 2017. they are celebrating

Now in Canada on July 1st the people are now doing party's, fireworks and having fun. But why?. Because it is their tradition and they do it every year.

Canada turns 150

July 4, 2017
Canada turns 150 years old. The people in the picture are celebrating in a parade and now around the country the people of Canada are celebrating their 150th Anniversary. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is making a speech about Canada’s 150 years
                     What Is Canada’s Day?
Canada Day, held on 1 July each year, marks the merging of four former British colonies into a single new country. It is a national holiday.
The country grew in size in the years that followed, and finally achieved complete autonomy from the UK in 1931. It was not until 1982, however, that the British parliament transferred final legal powers to Canada, including the power to amend its constitution.
Now in Canada on July 1st the people are now doing partys, fireworks and having fun. But why?. Because it is their tradition and they do it every year.

The Soft Drinks

“Edgewater TV News” (When/Where/Who/What/Why)

Kia ora my name is Ethan and I’m here to talk about news

Last week the New Zealand Beverage Council said they want to stop getting sugary drinks at schools because the council does not want the kids at school to get unhealthy with these sugary drinks.

News Story:

Soft drink companies agree water-only for primary schools

June 25, 2017
Soft drink companies have agreed  to stop selling sugary drinks in schools.
Last week the New Zealand Beverage Council decided to only sell bottled water to primary and intermediate schools and to avoid directly selling sugar-sweetened soft drinks or any energy drinks to secondary schools.
The council also announced that they will work with third party wholesalers to encourage them to stick to the commitment.
University of Auckland public health lecturer Simon Thornley said if that was achieved it could be very beneficial – but there was no enforcement and there were potential loopholes.

Although the industry produces the drinks, it does not directly sell them, and the crucial area is whether retailers take the pledge on board, he said.

Hi

Kia ora

Hi my name is Ethan and I started at Edgewater College in February in 2017. Sometimes I talk to my friends on Gmail. Every day I go on my computer to watch Youtube and Newshub. Sometimes we change into our fitness clothes to go to the gym, basketball course and even the field to run. Everyday we do jobs in the morning and afternoon.
